Burns Science and Technology Charter School Expansion in Oak Hill, Florida

Burns Science and Technology Charter School had a problem.  No, it was not academic performance or student enrollment.  This STEAM-based charter school in Volusia County, Florida, had been ranked as an A-rated school for the past four years.  This may have contributed to the challenge of a growing waitlist consisting of hundreds of students that was expanding with each school year.

In an effort to serve these students and give them the opportunity to participate in this exceptional academic program, Burns Sci-Tech needed to expand its facilities.  The school leadership team reached out to Legacy Funding Services to provide the financial and development services needed to make the campus expansion a reality.  In January, Burns broke ground on its new expansion, and they will soon have the space to get hundreds of new students off of the waiting list and into the classroom.

The expansion will include a beautiful new gymnasium and additional classroom space.

Dr. Jan McGee speaks to the crowd of supporters at the Burns Science and Technology Charter School in Oak Hill, FL.

Burns was already an A-rated school and had shown its model produced consistent academic outcomes. The latest wisdom tells us that sustaining proven results before attempting to expand/replicate is the best way to achieve long-term success.
