Invest Collegiate Imagine Gets a New Campus

Invest Collegiate Imagine, a K-12 public charter school in Asheville, NC, just broke ground on its brand new 116,000 square-foot building and 55-acre campus.  This development has been a long time in the making, as prior to this, the school had been meeting in two separate locations in Asheville.  Even with the two campuses, they were growing too quickly for the space, and the logistics were becoming increasingly cumbersome.

Legacy Funding Services stepped in to help this already successful school build a campus that would better serve its scholars.  The Legacy Team provided efficient funding access to the capital markets for Invest Collegiate Imagine, through a $26 million bond transaction at a very competitive cost of capital—to purchase land and to build its new campus.

The bond transaction was a mix of tax-exempt and taxable bonds that facilitated the ground-breaking this week on the 55 acres that will hold the 116,000 square-foot building.  The school building will include classrooms, a gymnasium, an auditorium, a cafeteria, plus foreign language, arts, and music rooms.  The new, expanded campus will allow for on-site student participation in outdoor activities, such as cross-country and mountain biking teams.

The Legacy Team is also providing value engineering and development oversight from the initial conceptual stages to completion—a feature that distinguishes Legacy Funding Services from other companies in the facilities financing and development space.

Invest Collegiate Imagine currently serves 870 students.  A conservative estimate projects that the student body will grow to 1,200 students by the 2021-2022 school year.

Legacy Funding Services is proud to have been a part of helping to facilitate the creation of a campus that will accommodate that growth and that will truly serve the students and the community.
